We have read them, throughout the years and have followed them like a cult following and even now as they create more films with our favorite characters we can’t help but buy the DVD. Marvel comic books have been around for a long time and have entertained us as kids and still do for most people as adults too. Who can even forget the famous words of the Hulk “smash em” or “Hulk Smash” which usually where the only words he spoke and of course “my spider senses are tingling” which was what Peter Parker, who is basically Spiderman would say when he felt trouble was on the way.

Over the years the way the comics were changed and infact they can now be downloaded from internet or read online, which now takes comic books even further than they could get before, and they are now reaching people who had never heard of Daredevil or Electra nor read about them.

The Marvel Comic Books have through the years changed with different artist taking over the helm of drawing the character according to the original only with their design, making also the theme of the comic books change. The new ones have even changed the outfits with Wolverine’s tight yellow spandex suit being replaced with leather black and blue. The story has also changed with the times and the presidents that have come and gone as well as the disasters that have happened.

Even with all the changes that has gone on all over the world we still see fit too look for a comic store so as to see what is new in the life of Spidey, X men, Fantastic Four and many other characters that have been portrayed in the Marvel Comic Books.

After years of adapting many elements and components of Superman from its original comics genre to television’s Smallville, the magazine has finally taken one of Smallville’s own characters to become part of an upcoming issue. Chloe Sullivan, played by Allison Mack on The CW cult series, debuts in Superman issue 674, which hits stands on March 12.

Comic book writer Kurt Busiek told Newsarama recently that he took inspiration from another Superman character, Jimmy Olsen, who also made the leap from one medium to another. According to Busiek, Jimmy was first introduced into Superman lore on the 1940 radio show called The Adventures of Superman. It was only a year later that his character was incorporated into the comic book.

“It made me think, ‘Yeah, and the next obvious choice would be bringing in someone like Chloe, but the problem with that would be…’ and then bam, a way to do it fell into place that I thought really served the book well, and made her a strong and useful and fun addition to the cast. One that would give us several elements to the cast structure that have been missing for years, but in a new and different way,” Busiek revealed.

One sticking point however, in the move to deliver Chloe from Smallville to Superman 674, has to do with rendering her in such a way as to look like Chloe, without appearing too much like actress Allison Mack. This has to do with issues surrounding likeness rights that need to be taken into consideration. Another challenge was to find a niche for the Chloe character, without overlapping with those that are already firmly set in the Superman comic book universe.

“The problem we’d have faced if we brought her in with the same background as the TV show is that she’d fill two basic roles - the Girl from Back Home and the Reporter - and those roles are both pretty solidly filled in the adult Superman cast, by Lana and Lois,” Busiek explained. “So she’s got to have a different spin, one that lets her occupy a different role from either of them. She’s the younger sister of someone Clark went to school with, not a classmate of Clark ’s herself. As a result, she’s the new intern at the Daily Planet, fresh out of journalism school and itching to make a name for herself. That’ll make her clearly different from Lois and Lana, and at the same time more familiar to watchers of the show.”

Punk rocker Pete Wentz created a new comic book series that will be launched in September of this year. He has teamed up with Image Comics to produce the miniseries that will be called Fall Out Toy Works. Image Comics is one of the top three biggest publishers in the United States. The series will feature a robot maker, his robot named Tiffany, and a kid wearing a bear suit. The comic was inspired by his bands, Fall Out Boy, lyrics and ideas. The series, more specifically, is related to his song Tiffany Blews. Pete Wentz has big plans for his series. He is planning on using the series to create a starting point for a website, clothing, and toys based on Fall Out Toy Works. He is hoping that at the end of the miniseries, the comic will be considered a graphic novel.

Pete Wentz is the bass guitarist and vocalist for the punk band Fall Out Boy. His talents are not limited just to music. His newest project is the comic book series, but he also works for MTV, is writing a book, and directs music videos. His creative mind is perfect for creating comic books.

Another punk rocker, Gerard Way, is also involved with comics. He pens the series The Umbrella Academy which is partnered with Dark Horse Comics. His comic series is about a family who are extraordinary super humans and tells the story about them overcoming the dysfunctional childhood they had. They were born in order to save the world and conquer over the evil Black Orchestra. The main character is Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who is a famous scientist and inventor.

Gerard Way is the leading vocalist for the bad My Chemical Romance. His involvement and fascination with comic books isn’t new. He wrote his first comic when he was 16 years old. His comic book series, On Raven’s Wings, only produced two comics because he lost the art team shortly after. Luckily, The Umbrella Academy is doing well and has even won an Eisner Award. An Eisner Award is given out for great creative achievements.

It’s great to see famous punk rockers getting involved in the world of comics. Having high profiled figures will help expand the comic book market. Fans of the two bands could also become fans of comics. People’s perceptions about who reads and writes comics will also change. Anyone, even rock stars, can become involved with comics.

I Have a story I want to put out there, but since I can’t draw, I can’t create a comic and animation is surely out of the question. What I’m getting at is that since it’s going to be in written form, what should I concentrate on to transition the story properly to written medium. I noted that the action sequences have to be efficient and have purpose. What other advantages/disadvantages does written medium have over the other two?
